A homebuyer in Loganville, GA called for a quote for a radon mitigation system on a home they were purchasing.

The home has a supported garage slab, which can be a major contributor to the radon measurement in the home. Supported slabs have fill dirt below them that allows soil gas like radon and water vapor to pass through the soil easily. The supported garage slab is poured separately from the foundation wall, and this intersection leaves a crack between the bottom of the garage slab and the top of the wall. The negative pressure in the basement that pulls radon from below the floor will also pull it through this crack. The crack is often concealed behind a framed wall, making it easy to overlook.
