Energy Recovery Ventilator in Conyers
Challenge
The homeowner found mildly elevated radon levels in the home he had recently purchased, which sits on a crawlspace. A traditional radon mitigation system can be used in a crawlspace by first encapsulating the crawlspace, a process called Submembrane Depressurization. However, the expense to encapsulate the crawlspace makes other options attractive for many homeowners with mildly elevated radon levels.
Solution
One convenient, cost effective way to mitigate radon in a crawlspace home is to install an ERV, or Energy Recovery Ventilator. The ventilator connects to the home's HVAC system and pulls in fresh air from outside while exhausting indoor air outside. The incoming and outgoing air passes through an exchange core that balances temperature and humidity while mitigating the amount of energy necessary to run the system. ERVs can also work in conjunction with a traditional radon mitigation system to introduce more fresh air into the home. Our team installed this ERV in the customer's crawlspace, improving indoor air quality and lowering radon levels.
