Mitigation during renovation in Buford
Challenge
The homeowner needed to mitigate radon levels in a partially finished basement with additional areas that are still being finished. It was crucial to be able to install an effective system without disturbing the drywall, and to keep a low profile that would not intrude into the planned living areas.
Solution
Our technicians identified the areas where radon was likely entering the home and placed extraction points in utility areas outside the finished living space. They ran pipe close to where the wall meets the ceiling so that it can be enclosed with drywall and crown molding for an appearance consistent with the other finished areas. A specialized fan was connected on the outside of the home, along with a fan cover to protect and improve the appearance of the system. Radon gas from underneath the foundation is now being pulled out and exhausted above the roof line before it can enter the home's living space.
